An asbestos management survey (formerly known as a Type 2 asbestos survey) is a non-intrusive visual inspection combined with sampling of building materials to identify, locate, and assess the condition of potential asbestos-containing materials (ACMs). The survey focuses on materials that could be disturbed during the building’s normal occupation, routine maintenance, and everyday use.
This survey is a legal requirement under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 for duty holders of commercial and industrial properties. Its findings form the basis of an asbestos register, which is essential for managing asbestos risks safely and in compliance with the law.
