Training and Awareness Programs

Empower your team with the knowledge they need to handle asbestos safely. We offer tailored training programs, including:

  • Asbestos Awareness Training (Category A): For individuals, including construction workers and other tradespeople working in buildings, who may encounter ACMs during their work. It covers basic knowledge of what asbestos is, how it causes harm, where it is found in buildings, and what to do in an emergency.
  • Non-Licensed Asbestos Removal Training (Category B): For specific, short-duration tasks involving minor disturbances of ACMs. It covers using a Class-H vacuum cleaner, wetting materials to reduce dust, PPE, personal contamination, and proper waste disposal.
  • Licensed Asbestos Removal Training (Category C): For high-risk work involving ACMs requiring HSE licensing. It covers training for operatives, supervisors, and managers involved in licensed asbestos work.

FAQS

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Have questions about asbestos surveys or compliance? Check out some of our FAQs below for clear, concise answers to the most common queries—helping you stay informed and confident in managing asbestos risks effectively.

ALL FAQS

What is Asbestos?

Asbestos is a naturally occurring fibre that was widely used in construction and other industries until the late 1990s. The three types of asbestos fibres most used in the UK are: blue (crocidolite), brown (amosite) and white (chrysotile).

Where is asbestos found?

Before its dangers were known, asbestos was often used in buildings for insulation, flooring, roofing, and was sprayed on ceilings and walls. Its use is now banned in the UK, but buildings constructed before the year 2000 may still have asbestos in them. Materials containing asbestos are referred to ‘ACMs’ (asbestos containing materials). Asbestos can also be found in soils, where ACM waste has been disposed.

What does UK law say about managing asbestos?

UK law is very strict about managing ACMs (asbestos containing materials). It is heavily regulated to ensure best practice and safety of anyone who may come into contact with it. The Duty to Manage Asbestos is the responsibility of the Duty Holder and the guidelines are included in the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 (CAR 2012). The Regulations set out your legal duties and the ACOP and guidance give practical advice on how to comply with those requirements.
